
José Carreras is one of the most famous tenors of his generation. During his career, he has
performed over 60 roles on stage and in the recording studio.
He gained fame with a wider audience as one of The Three Tenors along with Plácido
Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti . The first 3 Tenors Concert was on the eve of the World Cup
in 1990, the recording of which sole over 13 million copies, making it the best-selling classical
recording of all time. From then, the tenors performance at the World Cup continued until
2003.
As well as working together, Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras became lifelong friends
through their mutual passion for the tenor voice. In an interview after Pavarotti’s passing,
Carreras said "There is no doubt that he has been one of the most important tenors of all
times,"
