Andrea Bocelli is the world’s most popular Italian operatic pop tenor. As well as performing on concert stages throughout the world, he is one of the only so-called crossover artists who also performs and records opera. Andrea has recorded six complete operas as well as numerous best-selling classical and pop albums. To date he has sold a staggering 60 million albums worldwide.
Over the years, Andrea Bocelli and Pavarotti developed a close friendship. It began when Luciano Pavarotti was sent, and was hugely impressed by, a demo tape of Zucchero’s track, Misserere. They went on to perform together in the Pavarotti & Friends annual Charity Gala.
At Maestro Pavarotti’s funeral in his hometown of Modena, Andrea Bocelli performed
‘Ave Verum’ during communion.
